Q:  When I print to a CB printer ClickBook does not pop up and get the document. It looks like it goes right to the printer and prints out normally. How do I fix this?
A:  It sounds like you have a problem with metafile spooling not being turned on in your printer driver. To use ClickBook under Windows the printer driver MUST support Metafile Spooling.

When you setup a printer for use in ClickBook the ClickBook Printer Setup Help pops up and launches the Printer Advanced Document Properties dialog for the specific driver. Be sure to select Document Options and turn on Metafile Spooling.

To check to see if your driver supports metafile spooling, go into the printers folder and right click on the CB printer and select "Document Defaults". This will launch the Document Properties dialog. On the Advanced tab look for "Document Options". Inside "Document Options" look for "Metafile Spooling" and make sure it is turned on or enabled.

If you cant find this option then it is possible that the driver does not support Metafile Spooling. A common symptom of this is that the document prints normally instead of popping up ClickBook even though you printed to the CB printer. If this happens you should try another printer driver such as the one provided on the Windows NT CD or try a printer driver that is similar to the printer you are using. For example you can use the HP LaserJet 5 driver with the HP LaserJet 6 printer. If all else fails contact the printer manufacturer for drivers that support Metafile Spooling.

Q:  Metafile spooling is enabled. When I print to a CB printer ClickBook does not pop up and get the document. It looks like it goes right to the printer and prints out normally. How do I fix this?
A:  It is possible that your printers print processor has hijacked the ClickBook print processor. This has happened with some Compaq and Brother printers.
To fix this go into the printers folder and right click on the CB printer and select "Properties. Click the Print Processor button. Select the CBWP print processor. Make sure the Always spool RAW datatype is NOT checked. Click the OK button. Click the OK button.

This also happens if you have XP Service Pack 2 and ClickBook 6.0 or older. You will need to upgrade to a newer version of ClickBook.

Q:  I recieved the error message "ClickBook Print Processor Error - Can't process the RAW datatype" when I tried to print. How do I fix this?
A:  If you get the message "ClickBook Print Processor Error - Can't process the RAW datatype" there are 3 possible solutions.

1- The best solution is to install a new printer using the printer driver on your Windows CD. These drivers are less buggy but may contain fewer features.
2- If you can't find a the correct printer driver on the Windows CD contact your printer manufacturer and ask them for a driver that will work with your printer that supports metafile spooling or Windows Terminal services.
3- Some printers support HP LaserJet emulation and will emulate a HP LaserJet 4 or HP LaserJet 5MP printer. If this is the case Setup a new printer using one of these drivers on the Windows CD and then setup ClickBook for this printer.

Q:  I have tried to setup my printers but the ClickBook printers don't appear in the Printers folder or my application. What is wrong?
A:  If you are using Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP then you need to have the equivalent of Power User rights so ClickBook can setup a printer. Contact your System Administratior and have him change your users rights to this. "Print, Manage Printers, Manage Documents" of the printer and "Modify" permission on the spool directory.

Q:  My printer is not listed. How do I set up ClickBook for my printer?
A:  If your printer is not listed, We suggest that you go to the ClickBook printer setup, and seutp your printer for use with ClickBook again, using the Custom Printer Setup Wizard.
When using the Custom Printer Setup Wizard, it is very important to read all of the directions thoroughly, and then follow the instructions, to properly setup your printer for use with ClickBook.

NOTE: There are 2 common mistakes make when using the Custom Printer Setup Wizard:
1- Not keeping the pages together and preserving the page order.
2- On step 5, after the second pass prints not finding the side printed with the arrow then comparing the printout to the icons on your screen.

Q:  When I print to my ClickBook printer, the print job goes straight to my printer and does not launch ClickBook. Why?
A:  If you are using an old ClickBook, ClickBook cannot intercept the print job. Upgrade to the latest version of ClickBook.

On Windows XP and later, ClickBook needs a Terminal Services Compatible print driver. Some print drivers that are included with some printers are not compatible and ClickBook cannot intercept the print job.

Q:  I have gone through custom printer setup twice. Each time I try to set it up it does not appear in the printer setup dialogue box as a printer that has been already set up for clickbook.
A:  If your printer does not show up in the ClickBook printer setup Window, but is added to the printers folder, it is possible that your printer's print processor has hijacked the ClickBook printer's print processor.
1- Go to your printers folder.
2- Right click on the ClickBook Printer and go to properties.
3- From the ClickBook printer properties click on the "Advanced" tab and check the print processor.
4- The print processor for the ClickBook printer needs to be set to "CBWP", if it is not make and apply the changes.
5- Click on the "General" tab and try to print a test page. The test page will not print to the printer at this time, ClickBook should intercept the print job and open. Print from ClickBook to the printer, if the test page is successful then ClickBook has been setup properly.

Q:  I am using Clickbook MMX and my printer automatically duplexes. It prints upside down on the back. How do you fix this?
A:  ClickBook uses the following settings for Automatic Duplexing printers

[By Layout Fix checked (enabled)]
- Automatic
- Reverse

[By Layout Fix unchecked (disabled)]
- Automatic
- Reverse

By default 'By Layout Fix' is checked.

So the first step would be to change it from Automatic to Reverse.

To do this:
1- Open ClickBook
2- Go to File> Printer Setup
3- Double click on your printer to open the Printer Settings windows.
4- Change the setting from Automatic to Reverse.
5- Click OK

Now try printing a 4 page document to ClickBook and see if it prints correctly

If it does not print correctly, then:
1- Open ClickBook
2- Go to File> Printer Setup
3- Double click on your printer to open the Printer Settings windows.
4- Uncheck 'By Layout Fix'
5- Click OK

Now try printing again. If it fails try switching it to 'Automatic' and 'By Layout Fix unchecked (disabled)

These are the 4 ways ClickBook deals with Automatic duplexing.

If none of these work, then it is a printer driver compatibility issue, and you will need to change how your printer driver is set to duplex(landscape) documents.

You can do this directly from the driver, or from with in ClickBook.

From the driver
1- Go to your printers folder
2- Right click on your printer and go to Printing Preferences.
3- Change how your printer flips the page (long edge or short edge)
4- Apply the changes.
(NOTE: This change is for all printing)
